Understanding Domain Structure for SEO: Primary vs. Redirected Domains
Hello, fellow digital enthusiasts!
I recently took the leap into domain ownership by purchasing two distinct domains, and I’m navigating the best setup for my website’s SEO. Let me share my current configuration and seek your insights on optimizing for search engines.
In my setup, I have established one primary domain directly tied to my landing page, created via Carrd. The second domain, essentially a longer version of my primary domain, is set up to redirect traffic to the primary one.
To give you a clearer picture, here are the domains I’m working with:
- pb123 (Primary Domain)
- peanutbutter123 (Secondary Domain)
My primary concern revolves around SEO efficacy. Since one domain utilizes an abbreviation and the other is a fully spelled-out keyword, I am pondering which should hold the primary status from an SEO perspective. Specifically, will it impact my search visibility if pb123 remains the primary, or should I consider reversing the hierarchy to make peanutbutter123 the primary domain? My goal is to maximize the search-related benefits linked to the term “peanut butter.”
Do you think there’s significant value in having the full keyword domain as the primary? Alternatively, would it still be effective to keep the abbreviated version at the forefront?
I appreciate any advice or experiences you can share as I strive to capture the best keyword benefits possible.
Thank you for your insights!
