Has Medium Discontinued Canonical Links?
For several years, I followed a consistent practice of sharing my blog content on Medium. This strategy involved initially posting on my own site, allowing a week for proper indexing, and then cross-posting on Medium. Each article included a note indicating that it originally appeared on my blog, accompanied by the publication date. Additionally, I utilized the Advanced Settings feature to incorporate a canonical link, ensuring that search engines would recognize my blog as the original source.
To my surprise, while browsing through Medium recently to verify one of my canonical links, I discovered that the Advanced Settings section was nowhere to be found. Alarmed, I turned to ChatGPT for assistance and learned that this feature is now accessible only through the post import function.
This raises an important question: What has happened to the canonical links on my previous Medium articles?
If you’re in a similar situation or are considering using Medium as a platform for your content, it’s essential to stay updated on any changes regarding feature availability. Have you experienced any challenges with canonical links on Medium? Your insights and feedback could be invaluable!
Thank you in advance for any information you might have!
