Troubleshooting Bing Indexing Issues: A Case Study

Hello, fellow webmasters and digital marketers,

Today, I’d like to share a perplexing issue I’ve encountered while trying to get my website indexed by Bing, hoping to shed some light on what might be happening and perhaps guide others facing similar challenges.

Upon using the “URL inspection” tool, I noticed an error notification that reads, “Not indexed as this page is a redirect.” The URL in question is https://www.example.com/, but here’s where it gets puzzling: the error suggests that this URL redirects to itself. This situation raises some immediate questions.

My website has several URL variations, including those without “www” and both HTTP and HTTPS formats—all of which correctly redirect to https://www.example.com/. So, it’s perplexing to understand why Bing identifies the final destination as a redirect that still points back to the original URL.

Additionally, the inspection report states, “Discovered on 26 Apr 2025” and “Last crawl attempted 26 Apr 2025 at …” This is particularly interesting because this date coincides with the day I first submitted the page for indexing. Since then, I’ve requested re-indexing multiple times, but the report remains unchanged, causing further frustration.

Compounding the issue is that my website is completely absent from Bing’s search results, even when I search for the exact URL.

So, what could be causing this predicament, and how can I rectify it?

If anyone has insights or solutions for resolving this indexing challenge with Bing, I would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,
Frederik
