In the world of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), dealing with expired domains can be a complex venture, especially when the goal is to uplift a struggling local business. Recently, I started an SEO pro bono project for a local mechanic in Colombia, and I find myself puzzled by one significant issue: my newly revived domain isn’t ranking at all.

The Background: A Helping Hand for a Local Business

I came across a mechanic shop in Colombia facing serious financial difficulties. Despite the widespread struggles, I was compelled to assist by employing my SEO expertise without any charge. My plan was to leverage an abandoned domain, which previously belonged to a reputable mechanic business in the same city, to create a digital presence for the local shop.

The Strategy: Utilizing an Expired Domain Effectively

To kickstart this effort, I acquired an expired domain with a Domain Rating (DR) of 14, boasting a collection of legitimate, high-quality backlinks. This domain previously served a large mechanic shop in the same urban area, and I meticulously recreated the original site, tailoring it to meet the current business needs.

Key points about this domain include:
Target Keywords: The primary keyword attracts over 4,000 monthly searches.
Current SERP Landscape: Competitors in the area have a DR of merely 2.

Despite these promising factors, it has now been a month since the launch, and the results have been disheartening. According to Google Search Console, the site has appeared in search results a mere three times, and incredibly, it hasn’t broken into the top 50 rankings for any targeted keywords.

The Mystery: Why No Rankings?

What perplexes me is the near invisibility of the website in search results. Even with a well-structured keyword strategy—complete with optimized H1 tags and titles—there is zero visibility for the target keywords.

Actions Taken and Next Steps

In my effort to resolve this ranking challenge, I have implemented several strategies:
Local Schema: Recently updated to enhance local search relevance.
Keyword Optimization: Ensured that the content is not only relevant but also in Spanish to cater to the local audience.
