Unlocking the Mystery of Substack SEO: Insights and Questions
In the wake of my previous business’s unfortunate downfall due to the HCU, I decided to embark on a new journey by launching a Substack newsletter. My goal was to create a platform that thrived independently of search engine traffic, and I’m excited to share that this strategy is bearing fruit. To date, my newsletter has attracted around 3,000 subscribers, and the accompanying website sees nearly 20,000 visitors each month. Remarkably, fewer than 5% of these visitors and new subscribers come from search engines.
To enhance my brand’s online presence, I opted to host my Substack newsletter on my own domain, which is indexed by Google. However, a puzzling issue has surfaced: my site seems to be absent from Bing’s index. While this might not concern everyone, it is particularly relevant for me since ChatGPT utilizes Bing for its data sources.
I’m reaching out to this community in hopes of uncovering any insights regarding why Bing might not have indexed my website. Given that I’m using the Substack CMS, I’m curious about the potential limitations this may impose and any steps I could take to remedy this situation. I would greatly appreciate any thoughts or experiences you might have related to Substack’s SEO challenges or Bing indexing issues. Your input could be invaluable not only to me but also to others navigating similar obstacles.
