Challenges in SEO: Reviving an Expired Domain for a Local Mechanic Business
In the world of Search Engine Optimization, many factors contribute to a website’s performance, especially when it comes to resurrecting an expired domain for a local business. I’m currently working on a charitable SEO project for a struggling mechanic in Colombia, and I’m facing some perplexing challenges that I’d like to share.
The Background
I have a connection with a local mechanic operating a small shop in Colombia, a region where economic conditions can be quite tough. Recognizing his struggles in attracting customers, I decided to lend a hand by offering my expertise in SEO at no cost. The goal is to help enhance his online presence and improve the visibility of his business.
What I Did
To kick off the revival of his business’s digital footprint, I acquired an expired domain that previously belonged to a well-established mechanic shop in the same city. This domain had a decent Domain Rating (DR 14) and included legitimate, high-quality backlinks. After acquiring it, I meticulously rebuilt the website, ensuring that it now effectively represents his services.
I conducted thorough keyword research and determined that the primary keyword relevant to his business has a search volume exceeding 4,000 per month. However, even after a month of launching the site, I’ve encountered a stagnation that I find rather puzzling: the website has appeared only three times in search results, and it fails to rank even in the top 50 positions.
What’s Going Wrong?
Despite implementing proper SEO practices—like optimizing title tags, using relevant H1 headers, and incorporating local schema to boost visibility—the site is not showing up as expected. This leads me to question if there are specific obstacles I’m overlooking.
In our current digital landscape, it’s surprising to see a site with considerable potential perform so poorly. I’m reaching out to the community in hopes of gaining insights or suggestions on actions I might take to enhance the site’s performance further.
