Navigating Schema Issues in Squarespace: Seeking Solutions
Hello everyone,
I recently embarked on an exciting journey to enhance my website’s schema markup using ChatGPT. With its assistance, I created fairly detailed and descriptive schemas tailored specifically for my content. Before integrating these schemas into my site, I thoroughly tested them using Google’s Rich Results Test. I was pleased to find no issues, or at least I resolved any discrepancies before conducting a site audit.
Today, while indexing my site through Google Search Console, I also took the opportunity to run a comprehensive audit via SEMrush. To my surprise, I encountered a variety of structured data errors—mostly tied to organization and local business schemas. The specific errors included “a value for the name field is required” and “a value for the address field is required.”
Upon consulting with ChatGPT again, it suggested that this might be due to Squarespace’s automatic schema generation interfering with the manually added schema blocks. Essentially, Google might be detecting a conflicting schema with missing essential fields. While ChatGPT advised me to overlook the issue, I must admit it is causing me significant frustration.
I double-checked my codes through both Google’s Rich Results Test and schema.org before implementation and found everything in order. So, I’m left wondering: Should I disregard these warnings? Will the results change once Google Search Console finishes indexing my site?
I would greatly appreciate any insights or advice from those who have faced similar challenges or have expertise in this area. Thank you!
