Navigating the Depths of SEO: A Business Owner’s Journey
As a business owner with a Shopify website and physical point-of-sale locations, I’ve encountered the challenges of transforming my online shop into a primary revenue stream. Despite my efforts, the webshop hasn’t yet become a significant source of income, but I’m determined to change that.
Recently, I made a strategic move by switching to a supposedly SEO-friendly theme. I began optimizing my site by carefully updating keywords, incorporating alt text, and ensuring that my photos were properly named. To gain further insights, I sought a complimentary review from an SEO agency, which led to some shocking revelations. They pointed out that my site has over 105 indexing issues, including notifications about “alternate pages with canonical tags.”
Feeling overwhelmed, I found myself at a crossroads. While I’m fluent in four languages and have a diverse skill set, HTML coding is not within my realm of expertise. Now, I’m left wondering who I should turn to for help.
With limited funds available for these optimizations—since I want to allocate most of my budget toward advertising—I’m left questioning how to prioritize my next steps. It’s clear to me that without proper SEO, any advertising efforts might be futile.
If you were in my shoes, where would you start? What steps would you recommend I take first? Any guidance on addressing these SEO concerns would be greatly appreciated as I strive to navigate this complex landscape and unlock the full potential of my online business.
