Is Gemini Living Up to Expectations in Google Workspace Apps?

Recently, I’ve been experimenting with Gemini, now touted as a personal assistant option on my mobile device. However, my experience has been far from satisfactory. It seems that Gemini struggles significantly with even the most fundamental tasks it promises to handle.

For instance, I attempted to find several emails in my inbox based on specific subject lines. Surprisingly, Gemini was unable to locate them, even when I specified the exact titles. This raised my eyebrows—how can an assistant be deemed effective if it cannot perform such a basic function?

I also tested Gemini’s ability to interact with Google Drive by creating a document named “Resume 2024.” Unfortunately, Gemini failed again and couldn’t find this document, leaving me puzzled about its operational efficiency. It begs the question: what led Google to believe that Gemini was adequately prepared for public use as a personal assistant?

Given that Gemini struggles with essentials within the Workspace ecosystem, it seems a stretch to consider it a viable replacement for the existing Google Assistant, which outperforms it in virtually every area.

I am curious to hear if anyone else is experiencing similar difficulties with Gemini. Has it met your expectations, or have you encountered challenges as well? Let’s discuss our experiences!
