Launching Your New Website: Strategies to Build Backlinks and Boost Your Homepage Ranking

Hello everyone,

I’m excited to share my journey of establishing a niche news website focused on a specific hobby, which I launched just over a month ago. I’m pleased to report that I’ve already attracted more than 10,000 visitors within the first four weeks, thanks to organic traffic from social media and platforms like Reddit.

However, I’m aware that sustaining long-term growth will require getting my homepage to rank effectively for crucial search terms. Currently, my homepage serves as a static page showcasing the latest news articles. I’ve implemented several internal links with the brand name, but I recognize that’s just a starting point.

Simply relying on the brand name won’t suffice for attracting organic search traffic; I need to leverage my key search term to drive traffic. Having worked in SEO a few years back, I previously employed guest posting strategies for backlink acquisition, but I’m aware that the landscape has evolved significantly in 2025.

This brings me to my main question: What are the best practices for building backlinks? My understanding of off-site SEO is somewhat outdated, and I want to ensure that my approach aligns with current standards. Should I continue to pursue guest posting opportunities, and if so, what are effective ways to identify quality sites without resorting to low-quality link sellers?

While I understand that backlinks will accumulate naturally over time, I find myself facing a “chicken and egg” scenario—it’s crucial to rank key pages first to facilitate this process.

I look forward to any insights or strategies you might share to help kickstart my backlink efforts and improve my rankings. Thank you for your guidance!
