Navigating a Complex SEO Dilemma: Seeking Guidance

I find myself facing a significant SEO challenge with my website, which focuses on an AI headshot generator tool—a SaaS offering that creatively produces professional headshots using advanced technology. My content strategy includes a variety of articles addressing pertinent keywords such as “AI headshots,” “Best AI headshot generators,” “AI portrait generator,” and “Are AI headshots safe?” among others. In total, I have developed content around approximately 50 related keywords.

In addition to these articles, I have implemented a pragmatic SEO approach involving a directory of top headshot service providers categorized by city. For instance, the URLs are structured like this:
– betterpic.io/near-me
– betterpic.io/near-me/united-states
– betterpic.io/near-me/united-states/new-york

This directory spans over 300 cities globally, contributing significantly to my organic traffic—approximately 20,000 visitors, of which half comes from this directory alone. While this traffic seems beneficial from an SEO perspective, it has not translated into sales, leaving me wondering about its true value.

Consequently, I am considering whether it might be advantageous to eliminate this directory section. Would such a change enhance my site’s topical authority and improve my rankings for the primary keywords I am focusing on?

Additionally, I’ve noticed that a competitor, Dreamwave.AI, is performing better in search rankings despite having a lower domain authority. This observation has prompted further questions about our SEO strategies, as we both optimize our content thoroughly.

I would greatly appreciate any insights or recommendations on how to navigate this situation effectively. Should I maintain the existing directory, or would removing it be a more strategic move? Your expert advice will be invaluable as I work to refine my SEO approach and drive better results for my business.
