Optimizing My Keyword Research Workflow: Seeking Insights

Hello readers,

Today, I’m reaching out to discuss my current approach to keyword research and to explore potential enhancements. I believe that refining this process can significantly impact my SEO efforts and overall content strategy. Below, I detail the steps I’m currently taking, and I would love your feedback or any suggestions for improvement.

Step 1: Discovering General Keywords

To start, I focus on identifying broad keywords. One of my go-to tools is Google Trends, where I investigate various iterations of a foundational keyword. This platform allows me to gauge which variations are currently trending.

Next, I utilize the Google Keyword Planner to evaluate these general keywords further. Here, I compare search volumes to determine which terms may be worth pursuing based on popularity and search frequency.

Step 2: Identifying Specific Keywords

For more targeted insights, I turn to SEO tools like Semrush, SeRanking, or Ahrefs. By analyzing competitors’ URLs—specifically those that pertain to the services I plan to compete with—I can uncover the keywords driving traffic to their pages.

From there, I extract keyword spreadsheets for each competitor, allowing me to compare data easily. I assess which keywords exhibit high search volumes, generate substantial traffic, and, crucially, those I stand a realistic chance of ranking for.

Step 3: Finding Relevant Questions

Understanding what users are asking is vital, so I leverage platforms like Answer the Public and Semrush to unearth popular queries related to my niche. This information helps me identify where I can provide valuable answers and content.

With a solid list of both keywords and questions in hand, my next step is to evaluate which ones align best with my specific context and audience needs.

Your Thoughts?

Now that I’ve laid out my current workflow, I’d love to hear from you. Are there any additional tools or methods you would recommend? Any changes that could refine this process? Your insights could be invaluable as I strive to enhance my keyword research strategy.

Thank you for your contributions and ideas!
