Troubleshooting Schema Issues with Squarespace
Seeking Guidance From the Community
Hello everyone,
I recently created schemas for my website using ChatGPT, and I was pleased to see that they were detailed and comprehensive. Before adding these schemas to my site, I put them through Google’s Rich Results Test and encountered no issues, addressing any minor concerns that arose along the way.
Today, however, as I was finalizing the indexing through Google Search Console, I also decided to perform a site audit using SEMrush. To my surprise, I discovered numerous structured data errors, predominantly related to organization and local business schemas. The specific messages I received indicated two main issues: “a value for the name field is required” and “a value for the address field is required.”
I reached out to ChatGPT for clarification, and it suggested that these issues might stem from Squarespace’s automatic schema generation. Essentially, it seems that Google is detecting a conflicting schema block with missing required fields. ChatGPT advised me to disregard these warnings, but this has left me feeling quite frustrated. After all, I meticulously verified both my codes through Google’s Rich Results Test and schema.org before embedding them.
So, I’m turning to the community for advice. Should I heed the warning and address these structured data errors? Or is it reasonable to ignore them and wait to see if things change once the indexing process completes in Google Search Console? Your insights would be greatly appreciated!
