Navigating SEO for My Decade-Old Sports Blog: Overcoming Challenges with Traffic and Backlinks
After a decade of passionately running a blog dedicated to the New York Giants, I find myself facing some obstacles that many long-time bloggers can relate to. Although I have successfully built a following on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram, the traffic to my blog has been anything but consistent, fluctuating significantly depending on the performance of the team during the NFL season.
My journey into the world of search engine optimization (SEO) has largely been a do-it-yourself affair. I’ve primarily relied on WordPress and the All in One SEO plugin to enhance my site’s visibility. However, as I assess my current strategies, it’s clear that there is ample room for improvement. Both on-page and off-page strategies need refinement to boost my blog’s performance effectively.
One of the most pressing challenges I’ve encountered is the struggle to obtain quality backlinks. It seems that many established sports websites predominantly link to content within their own ecosystem. This makes it increasingly difficult for independent bloggers like myself to gain the visibility we need through external links.
I’m reaching out to tap into the collective wisdom of the community for any strategies or resources that could assist me in building high-quality backlinks. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated as I work to enhance my blog’s reach and impact.
