Why I Find GA4 Frustrating: A Personal Perspective

As a business owner who relies on website analytics, I must admit that my transition to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) has been anything but smooth. Despite dedicating months to understanding its features and functionality, I find myself questioning the rationale behind GA4’s design choices.

Every interaction with the platform feels like a challenge. Tasks that should be straightforward often become convoluted. It’s disheartening, and I often long for the simplicity of Universal Analytics (UA). It seems as though GA4 is tailored more for agencies with extensive resources, rather than for small online businesses like mine.

Just this morning, I needed to analyze traffic data for a specific page for one of my clients. A quick and simple task turned into an unnecessary ordeal, illustrating how GA4 seems ill-equipped for handling basic needs. The clarity I once enjoyed with UA feels like a distant memory.

Am I the only one feeling nostalgic for UA? Is there anyone else out there who believes that Google’s communication about GA4 has been less than effective? I would love to hear from others who share these sentiments and potentially find some common ground.
