Resolving Language Display Issues in Search Engine Results: A Guide
Hello everyone,
After experiencing a challenging journey with SEO agencies and freelancers, I’ve taken the reins of our SEO strategy for our websites. However, I’m encountering a vexing issue that I would like to share with you all in hopes of finding a solution.
Currently, two of our websites are displaying incorrect language results in search engine result pages (SERPs). Here’s a breakdown of the problem:
-
Website A: The default language is set to English. However, when users search in Polish, the English version of our main page is showing up, rather than the Polish language page.
-
Website B: This site is set to Polish as the default language. Strangely, when users conduct searches in English, the Polish main page appears instead of the designated English page.
I have confirmed that the hreflang tags are configured correctly, and they should ideally assist search engines in serving the appropriate language pages. Moreover, I had previously faced a similar issue and was able to resolve it by configuring the schema in Yoast to include language tags. Unfortunately, this problem has resurfaced, and despite having the hreflang and schema properly set up, the incorrect languages are still being displayed.
As part of my SEO efforts, I’ve also been working on building links to the main pages in the alternative languages. Despite these efforts, the problem persists.
I’m reaching out to this community in hopes of uncovering the potential causes behind this issue and any insights on what else I might explore to rectify these language discrepancies in our SERP appearances. Your advice and expertise would be greatly appreciated as I navigate this challenge!
Thank you!
